Today, Typhoon “KETSANA” in Danang, Vietnam has downgraded to tropical storm and centered about 270 km east of Ubon Ratchathani province or Lat 15.4 oN, Long 108.0 oE with sustained winds of 110 km/hr. It is moving west at a speed of 18 km/hr and rapidly downgraded. KETSANA is expected to move across neighboring Laos ahead to Mukdahan and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, Thailand tomorrow (30 Sep, 2009). More rain is likely with heavy to very heavy falls in much of northeastern with gusty. People in the risky areas along the foothills near waterways and in Lowlands should beware of flooding during this period. The condition alerts for provinces of Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Burirum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong and Phangnga.
The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is intensifying. Strong wind-wave is likely with 2-3 meters in the areas. All ships should proceed with caution and small boat in the Andaman Sea and the gulf of Thailand should keep ashore.
