Three local airlines have expressed interest in becoming partners in Thai Airways International's planned creation of a low-cost airline that could start service early next year.
THAI president Kanok Abhiradee said a consultancy was drafting criteria for the prospective partners, which would be selected by the national carrier's board of directors later this year.
An industry source said they included privately owned Bangkok Airways and PB Air. THAI would hold a 49% stake in the planned low-cost airline.
Mr Kanok also said the airline's recent restructuring was intended to streamline its management for better efficiency.
Tasnai Sudasna na Ayudhya, vice-president for commercial affairs, was transferred last week to supervise Star Alliance business, aviation rights, fuel and insurance.
Thai Airways shares closed yesterday on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 53 baht, unchanged, in trade worth 10.9 million baht.
